BRONS CONSTRUCTION: What made you excited to take on this project?

JOE BRONS:

When I saw the build plans, the overall layout and functionality of the house was exciting. The open build concept with a large outdoor living space was beautiful, and the home is surrounded by old-growth timber. I also really liked the finishes that they picked out, particularly their hardwood flooring and bathroom tiles. I was excited to see all those elements come together. These clients also had the most awesome enthusiasm! They were very excited, which rubbed off on the whole team. It made us excited for every step of the project.

BRONS CONSTRUCTION: What challenges could you foresee with the build that you were eager to take on?

JOE BRONS:

We could tell that the slope of the lot was going to be the only “challenge,” if I could even call it that! This was one of those projects that just went nice and smooth the whole way through.

BRONS CONSTRUCTION: What materials did you use and why for key elements of the build?

JOE BRONS:

We were able to use some of the trees on the lot for the timbers on the deck, which was really special and we loved getting to make that happen.

BRONS CONSTRUCTION: What were some of the biggest challenges to overcome with this build?

JOE BRONS:

This project started out as a Spec House and turned into a beautiful custom home at the framing stage. The challenge here was that it made the client have to rush a bit more with their selection of finishes at the lock-up stage, which is when the framing, doors, and windows are done. That’s your last window for more simple changes/edits, because after that things get moving pretty quickly. But again, this was a really great, straightforward build.

BRONS CONSTRUCTION: What elements of the project do you feel especially proud of?

JOE BRONS:

When I think about this project I feel proud of how it all went. It was a really cool home, for great upbeat and enthusiastic clients, and no major struggles, building their deck with wood from their land. Just an overall great project!

BRONS CONSTRUCTION: What are some of the most custom elements of this project?

JOE BRONS:

Did I mention the really cool deck?!

BRONS CONSTRUCTION: What advice would you give to someone who is thinking of approaching a project like this one?

JOE BRONS:

If you are buying a partially finished home, make sure that all changes or adjustments are addressed as soon as possible. Communication is key, as always but with these projects, it can be even more important. The pressure to make lots of big choices, like finishes, can feel heavy and the chances to make changes to the layout, etc. are on you at the same time. But that’s what we’re here for! So make sure you’re leaning on the team that you’re working with because we are here to help, to work with you, and to make that whole process easier.
